What on Earth does this Mean ?
"I expect the worst, But I hope for the best" ? How on earth does this make any sense.
On further Discussion with thinkers who use this language, I have heard some say "Weeeeell, if it doesn't work out I am prepared, and if it does it is a Bonus"
Honestly You guys this is sooo not true !
People who expect the worst, get the worst and Often ! They expect it in just about every situation they encounter, and as if that is insufficient: They expect the worst for you, their families, friends and everyone they come across in the world.
In fact, let them tell it they become an all knowing Authority on the Subject "Ewwww Too Risky" they say, contorting their faces while remembering times in their past they briefly attempted any such Self Belief.
Before rapidly cozying back up to the safety of old Familiarity ...
If you say something like "Well I am Optimistic", they will taunt you as if you are a fool, "Well the Odds are against you my friend" they will Chant,
"Cant you see, it is obvious", "Simply Common sense" and then continue to berate you (perhaps humiliate you publicly) for being such an Optimistic Idiot!
Which Leads me to another thought.
Do "People pleasers" play it safe, Conform and Hope for the Best ?
hmmmm ....
Is it because they do not want to speak out of turn, or step out of line with .. an original Idea ?
Or is it because of the Risk involved ?
That Dreaded, "I Told you so", "You are such an Idiot for believing in yourself", "What did you really think was going to happen", "No one else can do it, and neither can you".
Or "Things Like that Do Not Happen to normal people like us", The Rich, Special, Celebrities, Privileged etc .....
They have Lovingly (not) Taken you under their wing and made you an "Us", you may not have even known this before ...
We are a Tribe !
Is this the Anticipated Conclusion, That prevents potentially Optimistic people from daring to believe in going for it again, breaking the mold, Erasing the pattern ?
When I think about it, I see a picture of a hopeful Optimist, Admitting to a Pessimist "Yes, I just lost it for a second and began to believe in myself" ....
Quite Funny really, as it is usually such an Unconscious Decision, to Conform, to other peoples Ideas of what is right for you and your Life.
Believing in yourself, may just actually be a risk worth Taking ... You won't ever know unless you dare Risk it !
It may be that It takes time to Get into the flow, and you learn new things about yourself along the Way. It may be that it pays off immediately !
I continue to be inspired by Those who Dare to Dream a Dream, and Believe in the Unbelievable.
